"WHERE THERE IS NO VISION, THE PEOPLE WILL PERISH; IT IS THE SET OF THE SAILS, NOT THE DIRECTION OF THE WINDS THAT DETERMINES THE DESTINY OF A SHIP."

To the Women's Day Committee of Little Rock Baptist Church, I commend you for setting your sails in uncharted seas by undertaking the mammoth task of giving recognition and honor to a group of deservant women whose zeal, spirit of involvement, service and courage has made life richer, better and nobler for all mankind. In presenting your 2ND ANNUAL GOLDEN HERITAGE AWARDS LUNCHEON, you have reached out and drawn people together in a common bond of brotherhood, tenderness and compassion. It is my prayer that through your continued growth as dedicated Christian Women, you will remain steadfast in your charge.
To our distinguished Awardees, I salute you for your united actions for improved social, civic and educational conditions. Your singleness of purpose, your talents, ability, devotions and convictions have contributed greatly, not only to the City of Detroit, but also at the state and national level. . . You Care, You Share, and You Dare!

With warm regards,
Rev. Jim Holley, Ph.D., Pastor

GREETINGS!

As we begin the celebration of our ANNUAL WOMEN'S DAY JUBILEE OBSERVANCE, in our 48th year of Christian service, it is once again my distinct pleasure, as general Chairperson, to bring greetings to you.
Each day, we who serve, must return to life a unique and personal contribution, a giving and sharing, a love of humanity, our compassionate vision and our concern for mankind. As Christian women, we must be united in our desire to broaden the vision of the needs of others; we must continue to ask for guidance and common sense; and selflessness that will make us think of service, and not of gain. We must light the flame of love and encouragement in the anticipated hope that the flame will penetrate the darkness of the hearts about us and we will make holes in the blackness of poverty, sorrow and injustice.
We, the Women of Little Rock, salute all of our Awardees today. We express our profound appreciation for your courageous and farsighted determination to inspire the hopes and dreams of the young as well as the old. We commend you for promoting and protecting the interests of all women. We are proud to have had this opportunity to accord you the honors and accolades you so richly deserve.
Again, I thank the 1984 Women's Day Committee, as well as the Women of our Church for their continued support, hard work, prayers and the excellence of their services in making this day, again, "A DAY TO REMEMBER". Without you, this day would never have become a reality.

from
MARJORIE ANDERSON AND ELAINE HEARNS
CHAIRLADIES

“We cannot tell the precise moment when friendship s formed.
As in filling a vessel drop by drop,
There is at last a drop which makes it run over;
So in a series of kindnesses,
There is at last one which makes the heart run over.”
We point with recognition and heartfelt pride to the beautiful and talented women we salute today. Their success is not due to chance, but is built on a rock of integrity, love of humanity, consistent endeavor, and true faith in God. We offer, with humility, our love, respect and admiration for the splendid “role models” they project as “CHRISTIAN WOMEN COUNTING THEIR BLESSINGS”.
With deep gratitude, we thank our Beloved Pastor, REV. JIM HOLLEY; our General Chairlady, MRS. MARY THRASHER and all the fine committee members whose willingness to make sacrifices to benefit others is a testimony of their sincere joy of giving. You have taut us that such help as we can GIVE each other in this world is a debt we OWE each other. Truly, our debt to you is great!
Additional “THANKS” to JOSEPH WELCH. who gives his very best, ALWAYS! . . . and to SARITA BROWN, STINSON FUNERAL HOME, EMMA CURRIE and those unnamed contributors, sponsors and friends.
